Dear Fitness Professional, My name is Tony Turner (right) along with my partner Paul Sterrett and I’ve got a story to tell you. An important story. A story that can change your life…if you’ll listen. I was scared. Things weren’t working out the way I’d planned. After getting my degree from Kansas State University and my national certification, I went to work as a personal trainer for one of the big fitness chains. I paid my dues. I did what they told me – and more. I hustled. But the money was… well, you know… it wasn’t what I’d hoped for. And the title “fitness professional” wasn’t very accurate – I was more like a glorified sales person. I understand that selling is an important component of any business. Nothing happens until a sale is made, right? But if I’m going to spend so much of my time prospecting and selling, it only seemed fair that I’d be better compensated for my efforts. That wasn’t the case. So I evaluated my options. I could go independent – be my own boss. Take my clients with me. I talked to some of them about this and they expressed their concerns. Although they were loyal to me, they liked working out at the gym. They’d already paid for their membership, after all. Where would we train? In-home? I’d be doing a lot of driving. Logistically, it would be difficult, at best. I could go to work for one of the smaller, more exclusive and upscale clubs. That’d be like starting over again. And it’s more of a lateral move. Would the money and quality of life be better? I could open my own personal training studio. I’d have a retail location with nice equipment. The profits would be mine. I know how to deliver real value, how to educate and get results. But how would I get enough clients to cover the additional overhead expenses and pay myself a good salary? I’m not exactly a marketing whiz. And how do I find a great location for my studio? How do I negotiate a good lease? And the big questions, of course… how could I afford to open my own studio? And if I could, somehow, get the money together, would it be successful? Who could I turn to if I needed help? These questions were eating at me, but I decided that my future, my life, was really one big question mark. I could keep doing what I was doing – slaving away as an employee, making lots of money for the club, while they just threw me the scraps – or I could believe in myself, commit to myself and my dreams, and go for it. I decided, right then, that I would not – could not – continue to be frustrated and unhappy. I decided that my future was as a studio owner. I shared my dream with my friends and family. They laughed. “You’ve got, like, five grand in the bank. You make $33,000 a year. How in the world are you going to afford to open your own personal training studio?” they snickered. “Just be happy you’ve got a job.” If I’d listened to them, I’d still be making lots of money for the club and cashing my measly $1,016 paycheck every two weeks. Instead, now I own my Fitness Together personal training studio, have 53 clients with more joining everyday, and am banking over $28,000 per month in sales. I’m a respected business person and member of the community. I’m the one laughing now. The sky’s the limit. I made my dream come true. Here’s How You Can Possibly Do The Same… Listen. I won’t tell you it was easy. I won’t tell you I wasn’t scared. And I won’t tell you that anyone can do what I’m doing. I’m a fitness professional, just like you. I respect what you do. And I know how you feel. I know you’ve got doubts and reservations. But I also know that you’ll keep getting what you’ve always got if you don’t start doing things differently. So I encourage you – I urge you – to at least investigate the opportunity of becoming a Fitness Together Franchisee. I’m writing you today to show you a shortcut. A tested and proven, systematic and professional, complete business solution for owning your very own personal training studio, earning the money you’re worth and enjoying the prestige and quality of life you want. But this may not be right for you. The fact is that not everyone can qualify for a Fitness Together Franchise. There is a substantial financial commitment required. More importantly, there’s a substantial emotional commitment required. You’ve got to really want this. If you’re sick and tired of being a wage-slave, or if you want to take your existing independent training business to another level – if you’re committed to your commitment to yourself and your dream – then the financials will work themselves out. Fitness Together can help you get the financial capital you need to open your own franchise if they know you’re willing and prepared to invest the emotional capital. If you want to change your life, and if you want as close to a “sure thing” as there is in business, then you owe it to yourself to investigate the Fitness Together Franchise opportunity. I’m so thankful I did.
